"Summer Dawn at Old Sutliffe Bridge"

20 x 16 In, Acrylic on Canvas, 2003. $670.

This rickety old bridge fairly glows on this late summer Sunday morning in Iowa. The Cedar River glides quietly beneath, carrying fish and turtles to the Mississippi River. The bridge itself is actually a wreck: many of the old wooden crossbeams forming the "walk" have rotten and fallen into the river.

Birdhouse #5

This birdhouse and field are part of the 86-acre natural prairie at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in West Branch, Iowa. I spent some time there as the Artist-in-Residence in September and October, 2001. It's a lovely, charming place to spend a couple of hours all four seasons of the year.
