Saturn Plants
8 x 10 In, Ink and Watercolor on Illustration
Board, 2002. Commissioned.
Created this drawing for my friend Maggie Anderson's book of
Astrological Gardening. Created this drawing for Maggie Anderson's book of Astrological Gardening. Saturn is the Great Teacher. Saturn encourages us to keep track of the details of life, to take control of our lives. If we get lazy, Saturn fills in empty spots with items of its own choosing. Thus we keep our garden rows neatly weeded. We encourage Saturn's plants to grow in the rockiest areas, where only those plants seem to thrive. |

Silent Night
17 x 29 In, Acrylic, 2002. An Illustration from the Musicians series. On
display at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
My husband and daughter both play the cello, and I enjoy the Art Nouveau style of painting. This is my first work combining both interests. The music is the Christmas carol "Silent Night," arranged for the cello. If you can find a cellist, have him play it for you. It's lovely. |

Winter
8 x 10.5 In, Ink on Parchment Paper, 2000. An
Illustration from the Art Nouveau series. Not for Sale.
It might be cold, but you just have to dress
for it. A fairy stops to chitchat with a male cardinal at a favorite,
well-stocked bird feeder. They do not notice the snowflakes blowing
around them.
When I was in gradeschool, I used to dream
about being tiny and able to fly.

images are also available in the form of notecards. |

When the wind blows the leaves off the trees,

take stock of their winter stores in their woodpecker-hole home.
