Other Things I Do

• Sell the machine knitting design program called SweaterMaker for Windows.
• I am a writer. I've written two short stories, both published in the mid-80s by Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine.

  I have also written two novels.

  • My first novel is a science fiction murder mystery. Its working title is Murder in the Keweenaw Bubble. In this story, a pair of conjoined (Siamese) twins must find out who murdered a body-swapper inside an accelerated time resort. 
  • My second novel is science fiction, and is called Escape from Oceana. All the women on Earth have been transported to a planet that consists of one enormous ocean dotted with millions of islands. How can they survive in such a totally alien world?  How did they get there? Why? And how do they get home?

• I am the Mount Vernon High School (Iowa) Comic Book Club mentor. We meet two hours twice a week to work on our own graphic novels and comics, even during the summer.
• I am the President and Awards Chair of the Eastern Iowa Science and Engineering Fair (http://www.eisef.org/).
• I am a computer tutor: I go to my client's home and teach him or her how to use their computer. I teach subjects ranging from getting online, reading and writing e-mail, and how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
• I am available as a feng shui consultant. Feng shui is the ancient Chinese Art of Placement. The theory behind feng shui is that the objects in a room or space affect the lives of the people in the space. So I go to people's homes and businesses and evaluate their space with respect to feng shui. I offer suggestions on improving finances, relationships, health, and other aspects of life.
• I am learning American Sign Language. What a challenge!
